Blu Ray merupakan teknologi penyimpanan data dalam format HD yang mampu memutar konten hingga 25 GB dalam satu layer (lapisan) cakram (total 50 GB dua layer). Atau setara 10 kali kemampuan menyimpan cakram DVD. Disebut Blu Ray karena menggunakan Blue Violet Laser (sinar laser warna biru ungu), berbeda dengan DVD yang menggunakan sinar merah. Another notable feature of the BD-HP20A is the AQUOS LINK 3, which lets users operate the player from a Sharp AQUOS LCD TV remote controller: when it is time to play a disk, the input switches automatically to the player.
